2009 Sherazade Sicilia IGT

  • Qty    Single bottle: £11.75
  • Qty    Case of 6: £65.94

Gorgeously smooth red wine from the sunshine isle of Sicily. The spicyness and power of the local Nero d'Avola grape variety perfectly balanced with the smooth Syrah.

Sherazade was the fascinating woman protagonist of the 1001 Nights. A perfect name for a wine which has a fruity fleshy voice, wrapped in a spicy drape.

Tasting Notes
A concentrated ruby red colour with glints of violet. Fruity. balsamic and mineral tones on the nose giving hints of currants, sour cherries and blackberries. A full-bodied wine, gentle on the palate with good structure and softly pleasing tannins.

Matching
Good with rich pasta dishes, lighter roast meats, lamb in particular, cold meats and smooth cheeses.

Winemaking Notes
The Syrah grapes are picked at the end of August or early September, and the Nero d'Avola later in September. Vinified in stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins for about 8 days at a temperature of 24-26C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is fined in tank for about 2 months and left to rest a further 3 months in bottle.
