A quite majestic wine from the mountains of Alto Adige.
This land is still called the Sudtirol by many locals, as it was Austrian until the settlement after the First World War. Named Alto Adige by the Italians, to indicate the higher reaches of the Adige river valley, this is some of the most difficult terrain in northern Italy.
Here this superb quality-conscious winery produces some outstanding wines and the winery's Celestino Lucin was awarded the prestigious title of Oenologist of the Year in the 2009 edition of the major annual wine guide published by Gambero Rosso.
The Kerner grapes are harvested in late October from a vineyard ranging from 650-700 metres above sea level.
Tasting Notes
Rich aromas, floral, apricot kernel & peach characters. The palate has great texture and richness with clean balancing citrus acidity. Lovely length.
Winemaking Notes
Only the finest selection of grapes go into wines for the Praepositus label. Vinified in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 20C. Matured 6 months in tanks followed by 3 months in bottle prior to release.
