Enrico Serafino winery owns vineyards in the hilly Roero area of southern Piemonte with vines over 30 years old. It is most famous for its production of Roero Superiore DOCG - also a fantastic red wine from the Nebbiolo grape variety. Here, the winery has sourced quality Nebbiolo grapes from neighbouring vineyards in the Langhe owned by a few selected growers.
Although this is a classic Barolo in style, the maturation of part of the wine in barriques softens the wine enough to enjoy earlier in its life than many contemporaries.
2004 was a great Barolo vintage and this wine could be enjoyed over years to come as well as drinking nicely now.
Tasting Notes
A superb wine showing complex flavours on the palate with trademark, yet light, tannins on the finish.
Matching
Roasted red meats and game.
