Lovely classic red wine from the Piemonte region.
Dolcetto has always been an important wine for the Cogno winery and never regarded as being secondary to the famous Barolo. Great effort is taken in the vineyard and cellar. An important wine, well bodied while maintaining the nature of a Dolcetto, fine for everyday drinking, as tradition requires, thanks to its fruity freshness when young and its good complexity after ageing.
Tasting Notes
A deep ruby red with deep purple hue. Lovely scents of wild berry. It is dry, full, elegant and round in the mouth, with hints of fruit and a pleasantly intense almond finish (hence the name mandorlo).
Matching
Serve it with hors d'oeuvres, cream soup and broth, cured meat and fresh cheese.
Winemaking Notes
Grapes are grown at an altitude of 380 metres above sea level. After pressing and fermentation in steel vats, the wine is matured 50% in steel and 50% in large oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is given another 6 months prior to release.
