This is a delicious wine of great structure and balance.
Grechetto is a grape variety which produces flavourful wine. Usually blended in to bolster up Orvieto wines, it is a varietal which, here in the skilled hands of a great winemaker, shows its potential for class and elegance.
The vineyard "Poggio della Costa" is in the commune of Civitella d'Agliano and covers a surface of 7 hectares, facing east at an altitude of 140 metres above sea level. Clay soil of medium consistency.
Tasting Notes
Lovely aromatic nose, full and fruity. Complex depths on the palate and a long warm finish.
Matching
Good with thick minestrones of pasta and beans, or potato and prosciutto, or chick peas. Also matches well with lasagne and grilled tuna.
Winemaking Notes
Grapes: Grechetto 100%.
Soft pressing of the grapes at low temperature followed by fermentation also at controlled temperatures. Matured in steel vats for 6 months and left to rest another 2 months in bottle before release.
