This is a majestic red wine and the finest expression of the Teroldego grape variety.
The grapes for this wine are a selection from sharply reduced yields of vines in the best sites on the Campo Rotaliano plain, where the Adige river valley opens out below the rocky outcrops of the Dolomites. Elisabetta Foradori will stop at nothing to produce the best wine she possibly can from this indigenous grape variety and this is something very special.
The name Granato comes from the pomegranate fruit, which has the same origins as the grapevine and displays some of the same charm and intensity of flavour.
Tasting Notes
Powerfully rich red spicy smokey fruit on the nose, richness and depth carried onto the palate with some weight but showing lovely smooth balance in a long finish. Excellent.
Food Matching
Roast beef, venison, liver, steak & kidney pie; country paté, salami.
Winemaking Notes
Fermentation in large open oak barrels, as per ancient tradition. Matured for 18 months in small oak casks.
