A brand NEW wine from one of the most famous producers in Tuscany. From Antinori's Santa Cristina label, a new Chianti Superiore - first at Amordivino!
Chianti Superiore is a newcomer to the prestigious DOCG classification of Italian wine. This allows a high quality wine to be produced from grapes grown in different regions within the Chianti zones and so the Santa Cristina Chianti Superiore is a blend of various grapes picked at different times according to optimum ripeness.
Tasting Notes
Red berry fruits on the nose with floral hints of violets and spicy sensations from the oak barrels. A well-structured wine, velvety on the palate with continued floral notes and a nice berry finish.
Winemaking Notes
The different lots were fermented separately after de-stemming, at a maximum temperature of 25-28C for the Sangiovese and 30C for the Merlot. After 7-10 days left on skins, some lots were aged in oak for 9 months while the remainder stayed in stainless steel vats.
