From an ancient Tuscan estate, where the famous Monna Lisa was born, comes this deliciously rich and long-ageing Chianti Riserva.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red colour with burgundy tones after ageing; very intense, persistent, fine, full bouquet with hints of oak and woodland fruit; full-bodied, fairly tannic, long, warm taste.

Matching
Pasta, risotti, poultry, veal, lamb.

Winemaking Notes
90% Sangiovese, 10% other grapes.
The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks of various capacity at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C (82-86°F). The Sangiovese is macerated on the skins for 10-12 days, whereas the Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are left on the skins for 15-17 days. After de-vatting, the wine is placed in a heated environment (20-21°C, 68-70°F) for the malolactic fermentation. This is particularly important for Sangiovese, which often has quite high non-volatile acids. Malolactic fermentation normally takes around 20-30 days. Matured over 18-20 months in small oak casks. Further bottle ageing for a minimum of six months.
