Award winning wine:
3 Glasses, Gambero Rosso 2008

3* Veronelli 2008

From the Tuscan hilltop town of Montepulciano, Vino Nobile is a notoriously difficult wine to get right, but this is always gorgeous. A regular winner of the maximum Three Glasses from the famous Gambero Rosso wine guide, this 2004 vintage included.

Tasting Notes
Almost opaque, the wine has an exceptional nose of spice, fruits and new oak. The palate is complex and refined with great integration between fruit, oak and tannin.

Matching
Rack of lamb with redcurrant wine sauce, tandoori spiced lamb chops, grilled sirloin steak with anise basil butter or braised pork loin cutlets with thyme-lemon sauce.

Winemaking Notes
The Sangiovese grapes are sourced from only 9 hectares of vines. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats for a period varying from 10 to 18 days at a maximum temperature of 32ºC. Pump over is backed up with punching down. Vino Nobile Asinone is aged entirely in barriques for 18 months and a large part of the product undergoes malolactic fermentation in cask. It is then aged in bottle for at least 8 months.
