An exciting blend of Merlot with the local Sicilian variety Nero d’Avola that makes a full, ripe, deliciously plummy red.
Tasting Notes
This wine with its extraordinary personality and elegance has great chromatic impact. The bouquet is full with upfront fruity notes. Outstanding scents of sour cherries, blackberries and wild berries and hints of cacao, licorice and cardamom. Persistent finish.
Matching
This wine combines best with imposing dishes of roasted or braised red meats, game and cheeses.
Winemaking Notes
Nero d’Avola 50%, Merlot 50%
After a soft pressing it is fermented on its skins for 12 days at a temperature of 260-300C. There is full malolactic fermentation.
The wine aged for about 12 months in French oak barriques (a mix of new and used barrels) and a further 4 months in the bottle before release.
