2009 Langhe Freisa DOC

Lovely delicate red wine from this old Piemontese grape.

This is a famous winery producing classically-styled Barolo wines. Here, they've produced a lovely example of another old classic Italian red wine which is rarely found in the UK.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red colour. Delicate fragrance. Dry, soft flavour, with a slight bitter almond finish.

Matching
Ideal with soups, risotto, stewed meats, not excessively elaborate white meat-based dishes.

Winemaking Notes
Rigourous selection of grapes during harvest. Traditional vinification: fermentation with skins (10-12 days) at controlled temperature (20-22°C), with 4-6 months of bottle refinement.
