In 1615, the council of Scansano was purchased by Cosimo II, ruler of Tuscany and member of the all-powerful Medici family, for the financial sum of "215 scudi". From this time on, Scansano was part of the grand duchy of Tuscany.
The choice of such a particular name "215 Scudi" for a Tuscan red wine links it firmly to the traditions and history of local winemaking. Here, winemaker Paolo Caciorgna has produced a great expression of the Sangiovese grape in this lovely mouth-filling wine.
