This is a lovely well-balanced combination of the local grape variety, Cataratto, and the unusual Viognier. Great flavour from the sunshine isle of Sicily.

Polena is the name of the Italian figurehead which appears on the bow of ships, the unchallenged queen of the sea. On the galleons of the 16th and 17th centuries, these wooden statues mainly represented female figures which supposedly brought good luck on the voyage.

Tasting Notes
Bright in colour, from golden yellow to green. Hints of minerals, citrus and exotic fruits on the nose, adorned with floral notes of acacia. Good characterful flavour with nice crispness on the palate. Well-balanced structure.

Matching
Great with hot and cold seafood appetisers, also shellfish and vegetable-based first courses.

Winemaking Notes
The Viognier grapes are harvested in August while Cataratto is harvested in September. After soft pressing, the must is fermented at a controlled temperature and fined in bottle for at least 3 months before release to market.
