2008 Bellamarsilia Morellino di Scansano DOCG

Lovely Morellino from the Tuscan coast.

Morellino is the local name for the varietal of Sangiovese grape grown in the organically-farmed vineyards at this winery in the Maremma coastal area of Tuscany. The Mediterranean climate of mild winters and hot, dry and sunny springs and summers produces great fruit reflected in the wines made here.

Tasting Notes
Ruby red in the glass; nose of red cherry, some strawberry notes, more savoury notes with age; still a little rustic on first release but soon smoother and shows some elegance.

Matching
Pairs magnificently with the rustic, full flavoured local cuisine, where game and in particular wild boar, pheasant and hare are plentiful.

Winemaking Notes
Grapes: 85% Sangiovese (Morellino), 15% Ciliegiolo.
Fermented and matured in stainless steel, temperature controlled vats.
