2007 Fatagione Sicilia IGT

Super Sicilian red and one of my personal favourites.

Using the indigenous grape variety Nerello Mascalese, matured in French oak, this is a gorgeously rich red wine with superb dark and spicy flavours.

Tasting Notes
Spicy and floral on the nose; good dark ruby colour of Nerello Mascalese; intense and elegant taste with notes of forest fruits, strawberries, raspberries and cherry. Rich wine with pleasant tannins.

Matching
Roasted red meats or heavy lentil dishes.

Winemaking Notes
85% Nerello Mascalese plus other local grape varieties.
20 days maceration with pumping over. Malolactic fermentation in barrels of French Allier oak at medium toasting.Twelve months of maturation in wood.
