2009 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

A lovely fruity red from the Abruzzo region on the Adriatic coast.

Masciarelli is one of the top wineries in this region, producing superb wines from indigenous grape varieties Montepulciano and Trebbiano.

This young Montepulciano is vinified only in steel and shows lovely ripe fruit giving great flavours.

Tasting Notes
Clear deep ruby red colour in glass. Intense red berry bouquet with hint of violets. Flavours of cherry and redcurrants with underlying tobacco notes. Serve at 16-18°C.

Barbecued meats, lamb, lighter cheeses.

Winemaking Notes
Harvest late September through October.
After destemming, grapes are pressed and juice left in contact with skins for just 24 hours at 28°C. Wine matured for 20 months in steel vats before bottling.
