Lovely mountain Pinot Nero.

Bruno Gottardi bought the Sarnheimhof winery more than 20 years ago, completely replanted it and trained his vines in the French style, before also building a new winery. He is determined to show that Pinot Nero can be grown here in the Italian Dolomites to the finest standards of Burgundy and beyond.

This Pinot Nero, called Blauburgunder here in the Sudtirol, is the expression of the vintage and this is an award-winning wine.

Tasting Notes
The fruit is heady and jammy, reminiscent of sweet plums and blackberries, but there is a serious backbone to it. Typical earthiness on the nose and some tobacco notes on the finish. Quite graceful.

Winemaking Notes
After fermentation, the wine matures for one year in French barriques both new and old.
