Award winning wine:
2 Glasses, Gambero Rosso 2011

A lovely blend of the classic international red varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, given a distinctly Italian flavour by this famous winemaking family.

A wine named after the old Duke of Friuli who brought peace and prosperity to the area over a thousand years ago. The Zonin family makes this fine wine at their base in Gambellara across the regional border in Veneto, but the vineyards that produce the grapes for this cru are actually located in Aquileia in the Friuli region.

Winemaking Notes
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 40%.
Grapes softly pressed and left in contact with the must for 12 days. Malolactic fermentation allowed and the wine is then aged in small French Allier barriques for at least 12 months - one third of the wine in new barriques, one third in second-use and a third in third passage. After bottling, the wine is left a further 6 months before being released to market.
