Award winning wine:
1 Glass, Gambero Rosso 2010

1* Veronelli 2010

Lovely elegant yet flavourful white wine from this small DOC zone in the Veneto.

Named Il Gangio after the estate from which it comes, this wine is made from the indigenous grape variety Garganega. It's a grape we know better for the many Soave wines produced, of varying quality, further to the west of the region but here in the small Gambellara area it takes on special characteristics.

The vineyards are situated on the hills surrounding the Gambellara basin and the rich volcanic soils give the wine an added dimension.

Highly unusual to find this wine in the UK.

Tasting Notes
Pale yellow in the glass, with gold refelections. An intensely fresh perfume with notes of almonds, typical of the variety, and elderflower. Lovely long, fresh finish.

Matching
Antipasti, risotto, fish including shellfish, and fresh cheeses.

Winemaking Notes
Grapes: Garganega 100%.
Grapes are gently cold-pressed and fermented in steel vats for 20-25 days at a controlled temperature of 18C.
