Gorgeous, rare and sweet wine from the mountains.
This land is still called the Sudtirol by many locals, as it was Austrian until the settlement after the First World War. Named Alto Adige by the Italians, to indicate the higher reaches of the Adige river valley, this is some of the most difficult terrain in northern Italy.
Here this superb quality-conscious winery produces some outstanding wines and the winery's Celestino Lucin was awarded the prestigious title of Oenologist of the Year in the 2009 edition of the major annual wine guide published by Gambero Rosso.
From grapes grown at an altitude of over 350 metres above sea level, the Moscato Rosa is a rare find in the UK.
Tasting Notes
Dusty rose colour with ruby reflections. Intense nose of rose petals, strawberry and raspberry. Warm, sweet with a lingering finish. A very elegant wine with a pleasant finish.
Matching
Good with desserts and with strong blue vein cheeses such as Gorgonzola and Stilton. Excellent with almond cake and pastries.
Winemaking Notes
A selection of the best grapes go under the Praepositus label. Vinified in steel at a controlled temperature of 22C and fined 8 months before bottling.
