The Wine of Peace is 20 Years Old: Tasting at the Savoy in Grado

20 years ago the world was very different from what it is now. There remained the heavy atmosphere of division and discrimination in many eastern European countries. In 1986 the atomic station of Chernobyl exploded, polluting entire nations, while in Yugoslavia and Albania there were still dictatorships. In this context la Cantina Produttori Cormons, a group of wine producers from north-eastern Italy, created the “Wine of Peace” - a wine that, over time, has become a symbol of unity and harmony and to whose success many people from all over the world contributed.

The wine is cosmopolitan by birth, because it is made from so many different grape varieties, and its labels decorated by internationally famous artists.

On May 18th there will be a celebration at the Savoy hotel in Grado (North-East Italy), with an exhibition of 60 precious labels that have adorned the “Wine of Peace” over the years such as those by Zoran Music, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Enrico Baj, Dietman, Minguzzi, Fiume, Consagra, Celiberti, Manzù, Sassu, Finì, Vedova, Anderle, Rauschenberg, Corneille, Treccani, Nagasawa, Tadini and Ceroli. Even Yoko Ono undertook the creation of a label.

Oenology lovers have a possibility to attend this special event, whch also includes tasting of the best vintages of the “Wine of Peace”. It is still possible to book at the Savoy Hotel in Grado by e-mailing reservation@hotelsavoy-grado.it.
