Sweet Wines

Americans are getting an increasing taste for sweet wines and particularly Marsala, which is the most famous Italian sweet wine. This information has emerged from research led by ICE (Istituto Commercio Estero), the Italian institute for foreign commerce, during the last Vinoro event held in Marsala, Sicily, where the most important dessert, sweet, liqueur and passiti wines were presented.
According to ICE, last year Americans bought 127 million dollars of sweet wine (+27.3% on 2003) of which a large percentage was Italian.
