Million bottles of Spumante opened during the Christmas holidays
Made in Italy toasts are increasing all over the world - a surprising 14.4% increase in consumption of Italian spumante in France and 15% in the US, where Italian spumante is second only to Champagne, which itself only grew 11%.
In Italy 300 million bottles of Spumante are produced every year: 280 million are produced with the Charmat Method and 20 million with the more expensive Traditional Method. 20% of the production is exported to the US, 25% to Germany, 10% to UK and 7% to France.
