Melatonin discovered in some red grapes
An article recently appeared on the New York Magazine reports the results of an Italian research led by Marcello Iriti, of the Pathology Institute of Milan University. The Italian team discovered that in the skin of some noble grapes, such as Nebbiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Croatina there are high levels of melatonin, hormone that regulate the sleep-wake cycle.
This substance is naturally produced by the brain during the night and basically it tells our body when it is time to go to sleep.
