Apples, Onions, Tea and Red Wine against Cancer

Apples, onions, tea and red wine are healthy foods with beneficial effects due to the presence of a small antioxidant molecule, quercetin, which could be used in the therapy against leukemia. This is the results of the Istituto di Scienze dell'Alimentazione (Institute of Nutrition Science) of the CNR (National Research centre) of Avellino.

This molecule mainly acts against the adverse effect of the free radicals on our cells and regulating the activity of several enzymes, responsible for the detoxification of the body from external cancerogenic substances. Quercetin can trigger the apoptosic process, which frees the body from the irreversibly damaged cells.

Let's make sure then that our daily diet includes plenty of apples and onions. a cup of nice tea and a glass of red wine.
