Lagrein

Red grape.

Lagrein is almost exclusively grown in Trentino-Alto Adige, and produces both light and dark red wines. These wines tend to have an almost chocolatety taste and rich, fruit flavors. Lagrein is a late-ripening vine, therefore needs warmer climates to develop. Santa Maddalena DOC in Alto Adige uses Lagrein along with Schiava for its wines.
