2007 Zanna Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane Riserva DOCG

  • Qty    Case of 6: £117.00

Award winning wine:
3 Glasses, Gambero Rosso 2011

3* Veronelli 2011

One of the finest Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wines and the very best from the DOCG zone in the north of Abruzzo.

The Zanna vineyard occupies hills (Colline Teramane) sloping down to the Adriatic Sea, at the right of the Tronto river and at an altitude of 287 metres above sea level in the commune of Controguerra. Here there is a very mild climate with fresh breezes - excellent grape-growing conditions.

This Riserva is only produced in good vintages.

Tasting Notes
Intense red ruby in colour, tends to garnet red as it ages. Reminiscent of blackberries on the nose, recalls fruits and dried flowers. Full-bodied, mellow tannins, velvety and elegant.

Matching
Matches best with red meats, game, truffle, mature cheese and blue cheese such as Gorgonzola.

Winemaking Notes
The Zanna vineyard is among the last to be harvested, after a strong pruning and a meticulous selection of the grapes. Grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature lower than 30°C. Once the malolactic fermentation is over, the wine is poured into 25-hectolitre barrels of Slavonian oak where it matures for 2 years.
