We’ve pulled out the cream of the crop to show you the very best of the wines on offer here at Amordivino. These bottles are a little bit special - some famous names, some not. They all really excite us, making them the thing to drink if you want to treat your tastebuds. This is the height of Italian winemaking.
Wonderfully delicate yet flavourful red wine from the famous Nebbiolo grape variety, produced near the hilltop town of Gattinara in the northern region of Piemonte.
The Nervi winery owns 30% of the entire acreage of the Gattinara zone (it's not big!) and produces superb award-winning wines.
The Molsino vineyard is entirely owned by Nervi at 300 metres above sea level. This is a delicious and complex wine which is only produced when the fruit is deemed to be of special quality.
Tasting Notes
Bright red colour with hint of orange. Perfume of violets and young red fruits, with distinct spicy notes. Good structure in the mouth with fine, delicate yet slightly bitterish fruits. Surprisingly soft tannins on long finish.
Matching
Good match for grilled red meats and game, also with hard cheeses or on its own.
Winemaking Notes
Produced only in good years with fruit from the best Molsino vineyard, over 25 years old. Soft pressing after gentle destemming of the grapes is followed by fermentation over 12-15 days in oak vats. The wine is matured in a combination of large oak barrels and new barriques for 3 years before bottling, then allowed a further year before release, as per the minimum requirement of 4 years' ageing.
