Scacciadiavoli
This is one of the oldest wineries in the Montefalco territory. The name "scacciadiavoli" dates back to an exorcism which happened in the seventeenth century. The episode, described by Johannes de Rupescissa in "Trattato della Quintessenza" , refers to a young woman possessed by the devil, who was forced by the priest carrying out the exorcism to drink some red wine. The wine helped to beat the devil. This episode gave the name to the still existing hamlet "Scacciadiavoli".
This historic winery has belonged to the Pambufetti family since the middle of the 20th century.
