This is the only working co-operative in the area of Montalcino. Formed in 1975, there are now 90 growers working around 108 hectares of land. The winery is located in Val di Cava to the south of the beautiful hilltop town of Montalcino and this is where most of the vineyards are to be found. The growers are well-advised by top egronomists and are compensated based on the quality, rather than the quantity, of the fruit they supply to the winery. It's a modern approach to vineyard management which is replicated in the workings of the winery. The wines they produce show great quality and roundness of fruit, quite a triumph in a zone dominated by the Sangiovese grape variety.
