Cottanera
Situated on the northern slopes of Etna at a height of 730 metres above sea level, Cottanera was founded in the 1960s by Francesco Cambria, father of the current owners Guglielmo and Enzo. Cottanera is part of a very exclusive group of companies producing quality wines in Sicily. The challenge has also involved the third generation: Mariangela, Francesco and Emanuele, whose vitality has contributed to making Cottanera a modern wine-producing company where quality always comes first. The cultivation of vines in the black lands of Etna is a tradition. Volcanic lava has given life to a very particular soil, as extraordinary as the Cambria’s passion for quality wines. Cottanera comprises 50 hectares of vineyards at Castiglione di Sicilia and 5 hectares at Solicchiata. The vines plunge their roots into a land born of destruction by volcanic lava, growing in unique soil and climatic conditions, marked by a micro-climate with significant night-day differences in temperature.
