The Cantina del Vermentino has a history dating back more than 50 years, from when a group of inhabitants of Monti established the winery. It has since become famous for its signature wine, Funtanaliras, an excellent Vermentino di Gallura DOCG. Now comprising 500 hectares of vineyards and 350 growers, the cantina's wines travel across the world and are recognised as ambassadors of Gallura, an enchanting corner of Sardinia lulled by the wind and paint-brushed with intense azures, warm yellows and Mediterranean greens. On the slopes of mounts Longu and Sa Prescione and of wooded Punta Turrita, the farming town of Monti is situated in a broad valley, surrounded by vineyards and cork woods. Thanks to the wine-making skill and dedication of the vintners of Monti, over the years the land became dotted with many small vineyards in the territories of Monti, Telti, Olbia, Loiri and Porto San Paolo, delivering selected grapes yielding elegant, stylish and original wines. The winery, immersed in three hectares of oak woods is where the entire production cycle unfolds, from delicate crushing and stemming down to storage of the wine in controlled temperature cellars. The Aragonese-style entrance to the barrel cellar, also providing the logo and symbol of the winery, made in granite, welcomes visitors wishing to learn about the development of premium wines.
