The Cogno family are now in the fourth generation of winemaking and still working with the same pride and passion on the land of the Langhe. The Azienda Agricola Elvio Cogno, based in Novello, is managed and run by Walter Fissore alongside his wife, Nadia Cogno, and with the experienced advice of Nadia’s father: Elvio. Surrounded by its 10 hectares, 9 of which are dedicated to vineyards, the azienda is located in the most important sub-zone of Novello: Ravera. The current winery was rebuilt in 1991 after major restoration and refurbishment of the 17th century farmstead. Today, the winery fits perfectly with the characteristic landscape of spotless vineyards.
Elvio Cogno helped rescue one of the area's near-extinct white grape varieties, the Nascetta, and sticks by tradition with the declaration of "true love" for large barrels whilst employing modern methods of carefully controlled fermentation and a minimized use of barriques to produce wines of outstanding quality, even in this most esteemed zone of Piemonte.
