Sartarelli
Sited amongst the hills on the west side of the Esino river, the village of Poggio San Marcello is in the classic area of the Verdicchio terrain. Coste del Molino, Tralivio and Balciana are the names of the districts where Sartarelli's vineyards, dedicated to Verdicchio vines, are planted on steep, sloping terraces. The sole aim of Sartarelli's owners, Patrizio Chiaccerini and Donatella Sartarelli, is to see the creation of top quality Verdicchio wines and to emphasize the particular characteristics of this grape variety indigenous to the Marche. They own 39 hectares of vineyards, all above 300 metres, an altitude which results in a longer ripening season and a higher concentration of aromas and sugars.
