Ca' Ronesca

For thousands of years Ca' Ronesca's lands have supplied the Emperors of Austria and their courts with fine wines. The regions soil is named after an ancient Latin word: Marnà.This describes the local sedimentary rock which consists of extremely thin layers of crumbling grey and ochre stone.

These lands which once belonged to the Romans and the Longobards fell into a state of disrepair after the destruction of the First World War. About 25 years ago Sergio Comunello patiently pieced together dozens of small holdings to create a 100 hectare property which he named Ca' Ronesca.

Today at Ca' Ronesca the most modern and sophisticated viticulture techniques are used alongside the ancient traditions of vine growing to enhance and exploit the great potential of the estates wild and hilly lands. The climate is mitigated by the Southern maritime winds from the Adriatic, refreshing the hot summer and the Giulie Pre-Alps to the North offer natural shelter from the cold Siberian winds during winter. The temperate microclimate and the well-drained and exposed slopes provide a most favourable environment for the cultivation of high quality grapes. A careful selection and vinification of the best grapes make Ca' Ronesca wines unique: The Classics Doc Collio, The Doc Colli Orientali del Friuli and the Riserve. Each and everyone of Ca' Ronesca's wines are famed for the complexity of their bouquet, aromas and body. These worthy wines will be remembered with pleasure, a true trademark of excellence.
